Fearless Readers,

Mudge here (@codymudge to all my Tweepers), I hope you all read as many awesome comics as I did this past week. Not sure if it was just me, but I really liked most of what I read this week. Of course, the new releases weren’t without their missteps, some of which we will take a look at here. Helping me out this week, is my good friend and fellow RCB comrade, Corey Fryia (known on the Twitterverse by the inventive moniker @coreyfryia), another good (internet) friend of mine, Aaron Meyers (yet another creative Twitter handle, @aaronmeyers), and RCB squad member Patrick Mileham (finally a Twitter name that isn’t a name: @ninpf. Don’t forget, if you want to contribute to this column you’re welcome to add your moments in the comments section and hit me up on Twitter to have your entries included in the next column!

Without further adieu…let’s get to it! Mr. Meyers, take it away sir:

Terrifying end panel of Rachel Rising by Terry Moore. Chilled me to the core. Love this book.

Corey Fryia wants to creep you out with this moment from Talon #0. Check out this little kid who is excited to see Calvin murder a fellow Talon! Chilling stuff.

Excuse me? I don’t know what to say to this…Pat Mileham does though: Rabbits turning carnivorous and eating foxes?  What is happening to the town of Manson??  Terry Moore turns the creepiness dial up a notch with each issue of his horror series Rachel Rising.

This is a panel from All Star Western #0. My friends Jimmy Palmiotti
and Justin Gray are some pretty sick pups, guys, you know you
squirmed when you saw this. “And that’s an axe…to the nuts…”

These incredible two pages from All Star Western #0
are busy but show an incredible fight between Jonah Hex and his Apache nemesis.

The best misshapen body part of the week? It may surprise you that it
has nothing to do with everyone’s favourite whipping boy Rob Liefeld. This week
the honour goes to Matteo Scalera for this depiction of Black Widow in
Secret Avengers #31. Unfortunately, this is one of many, and I mean
many, panels, where I felt like a knuckle dragger for having bought a
comic that depicts a woman like that. If women like this actually existed we would have see them in Jimmy’s “Sexy Monday” by now, right Jimmy?

Holy crap! Is that a Sarlacc in Savage Hawkman #0?!

Cover-to-cover, The Punisher #16 was the best comic of the week.
The ultimate climax to an amazing run, bring on “War Zone”!

Jaws can suck fist! This is one heck of a page by Ivan Reis and
Joe Prado from Aquaman #0. On the next page Arthur Curry suckies
this massive Great White in the mouth. That’s one way to control aquatic animal life I suppose…

Here are a pair of clever panels from The Dark Knight #0. Recognize
anybody?

I’m sorry, but I have to pick on some brutal art again (and again it’s not Rob
Liefeld, would you stop asking?!). This time it’s Huberto Ramos’
brutish, animalistic depiction of Captain America. Terrible.

Surtur. “Doom”. Wow. The Everything Burns arc has been amazing.

HAHAHAHA! Don’t blow your top Red Skull! Oh man, seriously, you
need to keep a level head on your shoulders… Really though, you need
to be careful before you lose your head…. Okay…I’m done. I’m just really
worried he’s seeing red…

That wraps it up for this week. There are so many great moments each and every week, let us know what your’s are! Thanks for tuning in Fearless Reader, and don’t you dare stop reading!

Much love,

Cody Mudge (@codymudge)

Cody lives just outside Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. His first love is writing, and his second is reading. Comics have been an interest of Cody’s for the last four years however he didn’t start collecting and heavily following his favourite characters until the start of 2012. When not reading comics or writing, he can be found playing guitar or Xbox 360 or hanging out with the Arwen to his Aragorn. In 2011 he wrote his first novel, Darker than Shadow, which will be published by iUniverse. His favourite DC character is Batman, and his favourite Marvel character is Wolverine. If he were a superhero he would be Spider-Man because of his dashing wit and charm, the dripping sarcasm he applies at times and his ability to learn lessons the hard way.

@ReadComicBooks I don't know. Seems an odd thing to say, but you don't have to like something to understand it. - 1 day ago
