Cody Mudge
Managing Reviewer, Columnist

Cody lives just outside Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. His first love is writing, and his second is reading. Comics have been an interest of Cody’s for the last four years however he didn’t start collecting and heavily following his favourite characters until the start of 2012. When not reading comics or writing, he can be found playing guitar or Xbox 360 or hanging out with the Arwen to his Aragorn. In 2011 he wrote his first novel, Darker than Shadow, which will be published by iUniverse. His favourite DC character is Batman, and his favourite Marvel character is Wolverine. If he were a superhero he would be Spider-Man because of his dashing wit and charm, the dripping sarcasm he applies at times and his ability to learn lessons the hard way.

Travis Meidell
Assistant Editor, Columnist

Travis Meidell’s introduction to comics was born from sadness. When he was young his excitement for the upcoming blockbuster movie, Batman and Robin, had been building for months. He couldn’t wait. But the day after the movie was released the young Travis sat on the edge of his bed dejected and confused. He knew Batman could be better than this. He’d seen a great Batman before but where could he find more? That afternoon the young nerd ventured into his first comic book shop and fifteen years later he has never left. Well technically he has because he needs food but in his spirit, he is still there flipping through back bins. Today Travis works in advertising and spends his free time reading and writing about comic books and all things nerdy. Besides Batman, the majority of his reading lands on the Marvel side of the fence but there will always be a special place in his heart for the Dark Knight. Travis now lives in Chicago with his wife where he is attempting to turn his one-year-old son into the perfect little geek.

Brad Wiegele

Columnist, Reviewer

Brad Wiegele started reading comics in 1988 at the age of six. Growing up reading Spider-man, Batman, and X-men, comics became the hobby he never grew out of. Around 16 Brad discovered Sandman by Neil Gaiman and realized that comics could be so much more than spandex. A true fan of the medium as a whole, all Brad asks for is good, original stories. His favorite creators are Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, Bill Willingham, Greg Capullo, Frank Quietly, Paul Pope and Cameron Stewart. In Brad’s mind Jack Kirby is the greatest force in comics’ history. He will arm wrestle anyone who attempts to disagree. Due to several traumatizing encounters, Brad has a general distaste towards the elderly. If Money wasn’t an issue, he would gather the greatest hunters in the world and dedicate two months to finding Bigfoot. If he could only by one title a month, it would be Saga by Brian K. Vaughn & Fiona Staples. Brad likes everyone he meets until they give him a reason not to. He lives in Cincinnati Ohio with his wife Mary and their three children; Aidan, Clayton, and Coraline.

Roderick Ruth
Reviewer, Columnist

Roderick’s comic book addiction started at the pre-teen level, where his father helped him nurture a steady, visual diet of Spider-Man, Batman, and any “X-Title” comic that was available. As he entered his teenage years, he spent hard-earned allowances on almost every comic at the supermarket stands (remember those days?). After reading and attempting to draw every Lee/Liefeld/McFarlene/Larsen book of the “90′s glory days”, Roderick eventually lost his way with comics. As he got older, he continued to watch super-hero TV shows/movies and collected graphic novels from bookstores every now and then. After going to San Diego Comic-Con in 2011, his passion was reinvigorated. With the help of his local comic shop and his tablet, the passion has yet to slow down. He is an aspiring screenwriter and dabbles in different mediums including drawing, comic writing, and playwrighting.

Columnist

Aaron Meyers is a full time nerd for both money and pleasure. Aaron started reading comics in the mid 80s into the late 90s where, like so many of his generation, he was lured away from comics by collectible cards games. He came back to reading comics in the last 3 years where he has spent his children’s college savings on comics catching up on all he missed. When he’s not knee deep in networking cable or trapped in a server rack, he can be found on Twitter at @aaronmeyers or posting his musings about the world of comics at his blog Proactive Continuity.

Tommy Lutz
Reviewer

Tommy Lutz, born in Michigan, moved to Alberta at age 1. Raised on a farm, worked on a farm, and you won’t ever get the farm out. Trained in musical theory on guitar for over 8 years, played in 4 bands, always lead guitar and lead vocals. He got married at age 19, and is a family man to 3 boys and a girl. Although he is passionate about his hobbies, family is always first for Tommy Lutz. Even though Tommy’s review and editorial writing career started in video games, it quickly lead to his next geek hobby, comic books. Writing wasn’t a new thing for Tommy, having written songs for his bands and poems and stories with high grades in high school. He started reading Sonic the Hedgehog when he was 6, but gave it up by age 10, only to return to the hobby at age 23 at the advice of his best friend. He enjoys a wide variety of comics from a wide variety of publishers, and has fully immersed his wife in the process. When he’s not reading or writing, he’s playing RPG video games, the longer the better.

Derek Baker
Reviewer

Derek Baker lives in a small town right outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has been collecting comics since he was about 8 years old. When he first walked into a comic book shop, he knew that he was home. Derek has never really stopped reading comic books since. It all started with him watching the Batman and Robin and Superfriends cartoons in the ’80s. In the ’90s, his need for comics grew even more with the comics boom of that time, as well as animated television shows like Batman: The Animated Series and Spider-Man. For Derek, being an adult just means having a job and getting more money for comic books. Although he enjoys indie comics, Derek is a DC and Marvel fanboy at heart. Especially DC. His favorite characters include Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Swamp Thing, The Flash, Aquaman, Spawn and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Derek is also a toy and video game collector, old and new. Derek lives with his lovely girlfriend, Nicole. He works in the health care industry and is also going to school to be a registered nurse.

Richard Dressler
Reviewer

Richard Dressler was born in Jersey City, New Jersey but spilt his childhood between there and a small town in Pennsylvania. (Go Steelers and Penguins!). After falling in love with the Amazing Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons from the 90′s, he was quickly hooked into a life of comic bookdom. As a kid, his favorite character was Venom so the first comic he ever bought was Venom: License to Kill. Out of all of the books, it had the coolest cover and was an issue one so it would obviously be worth millions one day. (He’s still waiting on the return for the that investment.) Over the years, his tastes changed and among his favorite characters are now Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Skinner Sweet, Batman,Thor, and Daredevil. When he’s not reading comics, you can usually find him at one of his jobs or at home playing video games. He’d love to own his own restaurant one day that will be packed with nerdy memorabilia. Key things you need to know is that his favorite comic is Saga of the Swamp Thing, favorite band is Nine Inch Nails, he has a sweet Triforce tattoo, and owns the world’s cutest puppy.

Andrew King

He has a large interest in strong female characters such as Batgirl, Supergirl, X-23, and Jennifer Blood including female team titles. His ever-growing collection features modern books but he is actively seeking his childhood favorites. Currently he is filling in back issues of Birds of Prey and Supergirl while always keeping an eye open for Daredevil classics. After taking creative writing in college he wrote several fan fiction stories and original fiction titles before handling technical writing for his employer. After a recent promotion he is the service manager at a luxury car repair facility. Outside of comics, Andy is a Sci/Fi fan and closet Young Adult junkie. When not reading or writing he continues education utilizing the MOOC format offered by Coursera. His classes focus primarily on Economics and Philosophy.
